Objective of the position

The objective of this position is to win business, drive sales projects and make agreements with selected customers/customer segments in selected geographical area.

The Sales Engineer’s main responsibility is:

  • Exel Order Intake (Exel top line in absolute figure) and revenues growth in a geographical area from selected customer segments / customers.
  • The product and application portfolio is defined case by case.

Other responsibilities are:

  • Creating the Exel sales and marketing strategies for the selected customers, derived from the Exel Area Sales and Marketing plan and strategy, and implementing it
  • Give actively input to the planning and implementation of marketing activities in the Sales Area

The Sales Engineer must be an active link between Sales & Marketing, Technical Sales and Operations.

The Sales Engineer reports to Area Sales Manager.

Main tasks

  • Order Intake and Revenues: Profitable organic growth in own responsibility area
  • Customer Management: Assessing the growth potential in the buying platform. Increase the Exel share of wallet in existing customers
  • Open new markets: New customers, customer segments, applications and products in close co-operation with Exel Technical Sales. This might happen also in new geographical areas.
  • Marketing in Area: Active participation in marketing activities (both external and internal) in area
  • Area Sales & Marketing team: Take an active role in the Exel Area Sales & Marketing team looking for synergies and cooperation between the salesmen and areas. Boost the alignment and co-operation with other functions.
  • Sales Management: Maintains an updated pipeline and CRM database of qualified leads and sales cases through referrals, telephone canvassing, face to face visits, email, and networking. Reports activities in Regional Sales team meetings.

Required skills and knowledge

  • Experienced in sales and/or marketing. Proven ability to achieve sales quotas.
  • Understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements
  • Adequate understanding of composite technology and project management (product development and customer projects)
  • Willingness to travel and work as required to achieve objectives.
  • Good verbal communication skills and capability to effective writing. Cross cultural understanding and strong negotiation skills. Fluent spoken and written “Area language(s)” and English. Other languages beneficial.
